Una empresa francesa especializada en tratamientos antiedad naturales ha extraído un polifenol muy eficiente de corteza de pino conocido como oligo-proantocianidina (OPC). La oligo-proantocianidina es un agente antioxidante 30 veces más potente que la vitamina C que neutraliza los radicales libres causantes del envejecimiento de la piel. También presenta una importante actividad dermoprotectora al inhibir la enzima MMP, responsable de descomponer las fibras de colágeno, y restaura la piel al estimular la síntesis de colágeno. La empresa busca socios industriales en las industrias cosmética y nutracéutica con el fin de incorporar estas moléculas en sus fórmulas. El objetivo es establecer acuerdos de cooperación técnica.

A French company specialized in natural anti-ageing treatments has managed to extract a very efficient polyphenol from pine bark, called OPC (Oligo-ProanthoCyanidin). It is now looking for industrial partners in the cosmetics and nutraceutical industries willing to include such molecules in their own products´ formulas. Technical cooperation is sought.
With 1000 employees and 350 million euros in sales, 80% of which are made internationally, a French family-owned business that develops chemical derivatives of pine from the Landes region in France (resins, terpenes and nutraceuticals) has developed a full range of natural anti-ageing molecules extracted from pine bark, called OPC (Oligo-ProanthoCyanidin).

By closely studying pine polyphenols, the French company has identified their astonishing properties that prevent cellular ageing and protect the fundamental elements of the dermal matrix. Pine OPC is already used in the nutraceutical sector for cardiovascular prevention and venous protection. Various tests conducted by accredited laboratories, recognized for their expertise in product safety evaluation, have proven the optimal cutaneous and ocular innocuousness of non-irritating and non-sensitizing of pine OPC.

The French company has purified, stabilized and patented pine OPC for the first time, featuring its 3 properties in a cosmetic product range: 1°) a remarkable antioxidant agent, 30 times more powerful than Vitamin C, pine OPC neutralizes free radicals that cause skin ageing. 2°) Pine OPC offers significant dermoprotective activity by effectively inhibiting MMP-1, an enzyme that breaks down collagen fibers. This helps preserve the firmness and elasticity of youthful skin. 3°)These polyphenols also provide powerful skin restorative action as they stimulate the synthesis of collagen, the main constituent of the dermis: 37% increase in the production of collagen III and 18% increase in the production of collagen IV. Polyphenols restore tone and density to the skin, thanks to their high collagen-producing activity.

The French company is now looking for industrial partners in the cosmetics and nutraceutical industries willing to include such molecule in their own products´ formulas. Technical cooperation is sought.
Advantages and Innovations:
Patented OPC PIN used in current skincare range is derived exclusively from pine trees growing in the Landes of Gascony forest, managed and renewed in the spirit of preserving natural resources. The polyphenols contained in pine needles and pine bark have excellent anti-free radical properties. At the same time, essential fatty acids help inhibit transepidermal water loss to preserve the integrity of the epidermal barrier, thanks to their nourishing and restructuring action. The active properties of this 100% natural botanical oil are obtained by cold pressing the pine seeds, which are gathered along the Atlantic coastline of Aquitaine near Bordeaux. Pine bark powder is also used for mechanical exfoliation. Full support will be provided to European partners for the development of their own formulas.
