Una universidad ucraniana ha desarrollado una nueva tecnología de producción de filtros de alta precisión para purificación de agua potable, aire, medicamentos, alimentos, aceites y medios agresivos. La tecnología se caracteriza por su precio reducido y bajo consumo, además de ser ecológica y de uso, funcionamiento y mantenimiento sencillos. La universidad busca socios industriales especializados en diseño y fabricación de filtros y componentes con el fin de establecer diferentes tipos de cooperación.

Ultrathin polypropylene nano-filled filter materials for water purification and disinfection
Summary:
A Ukrainian university has developed a novel technology to produce high-precision filter materials (FMs) for the purification of drinking water, air, drugs, foodstuffs, oils and various aggressive media. The technology is characterized by low cost price and low power inputs. It is eco-friendly, easy to perform, operate and maintain. The university is looking for different forms of cooperation with industrial partners specialized in designing and manufacturing filters and filter elements.
Description:
The prevention of world aquatic ecosystems pollution can be effectively realized by the development of new high-tech systems of cleaning. The complication of the process of pollutants removal lies in the fact that a set of toxic contaminants, present in water in trace amount, is wide and usually specific.
One of the most promising solution to the existing problem is the industrial application of new ultra-thin nano-filled polypropylene FMs developed at the university. Offered FMs can be employed not only in water purification but also in the liquid and gas media processing. The structural features of novel FMs enable to eliminate the disadvantages of all other fibrous filters (wedging by fluids and washing out of short fibers into filtrate). Developed FMs are superior to other filter materials produced by the global industrial companies in main technological characteristics (effectiveness and productivity).
The University is looking for different forms of cooperation (license agreement, cooperation with technical assistance, commercial agreement) with industrial partners specialized in designing and manufacturing filters and filter elements to introduce the product to commercial/ industrial end users.

Advantages and Innovations:
The advantages of offered FMs are the following:
- microfibers of FMs have a unique homogeneous structure with highly-developed surface and great number of active centres (originated from the chemical groups of incorporated nano-additives) that define their functionality. There are no such fibers in nature, and they can not be formed by conventional techniques;
- analytical and biomedical studies reveal that the application of developed FMs eventually improves the water quality
·content of ammonia and nitrates decreases by 3.0÷3.5 times;
·residual chlorine and lead are adsorbed completely;
·content of salts of heavy metals decreases by 2÷10 times.
-nanofillers as well as polypropylene fibers by themselves provide with bactericidal effect. No bacterial growth on the filter surface during its operating cycle is observed.
