They have senior experts with over 30 years of experience in composite development and state-of the-art capabilities, they could assist in the development of any component from the material to the prototype.
Description:
The Research Center was created in 2006 by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, the Regional Government of Madrid and an aeronautical multinational. The staff number is 80 people, mainly high-skilled engineers, with a strong background on composite materials. Its facilities are operational since 2009, with an area of about 1500 m2 for offices and about 4000 m2 the manufacturing workshop, the physicochemical and the mechanical laboratory.

This huge area gives a house to the specific state-of-the-art equipment required to carry out all the activities related to the ongoing projects.

The Research Center structure is organized into 5 different departments which consider projects made with dry fiber materials, pre-impregnated materials, thermoplastic materials, advanced materials or manufacturing of structures and coupons. The physicochemical and mechanical laboratories give transversal service and support to the project´s development, as well as the manufacturing workshop.

The techniques used by the research center are those directly related to advanced composite material manufacturing technologies, which includes:
· Automated lay-up (ATL, UniTow Placement, MultiTow placement, In-situ consolidation);
· Advanced Composites Liquid Moulding (Resin Transfer Moulding, Resin Liquid Infusion);
· Pre-forming / Hot-forming;
· Composite Joining and Assembly Techniques;
· Smart composite structures (Optical fiber monitoring).

The research center is looking for technology cooperation agreements in order to improve their close-to-market products. They are also interested in manufacturing agreements thanks to the top facilities they have and their experience working with industries offering high-tech services. Last but not least, as an R-Y-D center, they look for further collaboration through research cooperation agreements with other R-Y-D institutions to continue advancing in the state of the art in the field of composite materials.
Advantages and Innovations:
The Spanish research foundation has a large experience in competitive and industrial projects. Its core business is the research, development and potential uses of composite materials. The entity is mainly addressed to aerospace activities but widely open to other sectors, having carried out projects in the railway, wind energy and automotive areas.
The main general activities carried out are:
· The improvement of technologies already known such as composite automated fabrication, component integration, analysis, test and demonstration of composite emerging technologies;
· The selection of the optimal ways to use those technologies in specific products;
· The cooperation to establish specific Design Principles/Stress methods;
· The suggestion of new research lines to Universities, R-Y-D Labs or other Technological Centers which can cooperate potentially with the research center.
All the tasks done can be included in a range from TRL4 to TRL6, which takes into account the aspects related to the technology maturity level.
IThe center has a wide experience in industrial and international competitive projects, they have worked in over 450 projects of diverse size in the last 5 years, such as small confidential projects to large EU consortiums within the CleanSky or Shift2Rail-H2020 framework.

Partners who want to develop prototypes, who seek solutions to manufacture innovative products, who want to find a new process to improve their existing equipment, who are looking for very high quality parts, are welcome.
