It is based on thermoelectricity with Peltier cells and has been designed to reach a high comfort level for people living in the premises. They are looking for partners for technical cooperation agreements or a partner for performing the setting up of the manufacturing of the system.

Arquitecture school team of a university consistently ranked as one of the best private institution of Spain, are working with specialists and professionals of other areas to transfer the knowledge from architecture to improve new and innovative solutions in building and urbanism. This team has developed a new system of air conditioning that works both as an installation air-conditioning machine and as a building external wall o façade.

The Thermoelectric Conditioning System (TCS) is a climate control equipment based on Peltier cells and has been designed to reach a high comfort level for people living in the local.
The Thermoelectric Conditioning System (TCS) can be used either for heating or for cooling (refrigeration) and it has not mechanical elements like pumps or compressors:
-reducing the possibilities of failures
-reducing the auxiliary installation
-reducing the noise

The costs for maintance are nearly zero demonstrated by 1200 hours of use.
The Peltier cells system offers reliability and precision and the system can be connected to photovoltanic panels for:
- Wireless
- No CO2emissions, No Freon
- Free of alternators as both the photovoltaic panels and peltier cells use Alternating Current (AC) Electricity.


The system has been studied with a prefabricated module (as a simplified inhabited housing unit or prototype) during one year with more than 1200 hours of use demonstrating that is robust.

At present the research team is developing the second phase of the project, for which all the electricity used will be sourced from a combined system of photovoltaic panels and batteries, which will eliminate the feeding source problem, as Peltier cells work with direct current. This means a solution combining prefabrication with a reduced lifecycle, minimum costs and an integrated renewable system, all of which fits in with the middle-term saving strategies in construction proposed by the EU.

They are looking for technical partners working in this field which want to cooperate in the development. Furthermore, companies working in the process of manufacturing of Peltier system could be a good partner.
Advantages and Innovations:
- The climate control equipment based on Peltier cells offer the possibility of heating and cooling with the same installation, only changing the electricity current direction.
- The final climate control equipment will be a compact prefabricated element, and it is only necessary to reserve space in the building façade for its collocation. The invention is compact and constructively simply
- The reduced volume of the installation allows the integration of the system into the façade, avoiding placing machines both inside the room that reduce the useful surface and outside the building façade, which damage the image of the building.
- The installation is easier than regular ones, because other items such as pipes, boilers, refrigeration towers are not needed.
- The Peltier system based on thermoelectricity has high reliability (more than 30 years of operative performance) and very low maintenance costs. It is a very strong technology without mobile components
- Peltier system offers high precision of the regulation of the temperatures
- No CO2 emissions are produced. The Peltier cells do not emit CO2 during its usage and refrigeration gases are not needed.
- A totally autonomy is possible. The connection of the system with a solar cells installation makes the system completely independent and autonomous.
