Summary:
A Lithuanian research group offers its know-how to obtain findings regarding the durability of building materials, such as roofing sheets, wood-based panels, flexible sheets for waterproofing, sheeting for walls, facades, ceilings and floors and other sheet goods. The research group is interested in services agreements with industry for providing testing such materials in a scope of durability. They also offer to cooperate partners interested in progress of R-Y-D of building material durability.
Description:
A Lithuanian research group is part of a contemporary research institute at the University that undertakes R%26D and actively provided applied research services in the field of building engineering. This group focuses on determination of durability of building materials such as bitumen, plastic, rubber, metal roofing sheets and roofing products, wood-based panels, flexible sheets for waterproofing, sheeting for external walls, partitions, facades, ceilings and floors as well as other sheet goods. The group offers its in-depth know-how and expertise to obtain finding regarding to durability of such materials. The services include:
· assessment of atmospheric environment subjected to the building material during their exploitation or determine degradation processes induced by external factors,
· selection conditions and methods for durability tests,
· artificial ageing laboratory testing of building materials,
· evaluation of degradation of coatings,
· test reporting in accordance with the requirements of the relevant standards.
Above mentioned building materials are tested carried out artificial ageing by exposure to the combination of UV light, wide range of temperatures and moisture, this reproduces the damage caused by sunlight, rain and dew. Materials can be affected by the impacts of abrasion or salt spry as well. The main advantage is the availability of extensive scientific expertise, facilities and services in a compact one-stop-shop. Laboratory is equipped with QUV accelerated weathering tester, cyclic corrosion test chamber, low and high temperature chambers, oven, other laboratory equipment. Laboratory is accredited by Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau on ISO/IEC 17025 and several standards regarding to tests in artificial atmospheres and evaluation of degradation of coatings.
The research group is interested in services agreements for providing testing building materials in the scope of durability. They are active in applied research and also offer research cooperation and/ or technical cooperation with R-Y-D institution, academic sector, or industry.
