Un equipo de investigación de una universidad italiana ha desarrollado una herramienta de modelado para el diseño y análisis de sistemas complejos. La tecnología se utiliza para definir sistemas complejos y generar automáticamente códigos de simulación distribuida con el fin de predecir el rendimiento de sistemas durante el diseño partiendo del modelo SysML (lenguaje de especificación de sistemas). The team is open to technical cooperation agreements aimed to validate the system in real-world scenarios. Partners sought are industrial companies.

The Italian research team is active in the field of systems, software and simulation engineering. Research activities mainly focus on methods, techniques and technology for simulation based business process analysis.

Distributed simulation is a powerful approach to investigate system behavior at design time. However, its use is still limited in practice due to different reasons. The most significant ones are related to the programming and technical skills that are needed to implement a simulation. In order to overcome these limitations, the proposed technology exploits model-driven principles for enabling system analysts to automate the generation and execution of the simulation code starting from a system model specified in Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
The proposed technology can be applied in different sectors involving complex systems design, but it can be particularly useful in the defense and aerospace sectors.

The scope of technical cooperation agreement is to apply the proposed approach in different operational scenarios, in order to validate the developed technology in relevant environments. The team is looking for industrial partners.
Advantages and Innovations:
The proposed technology allows systems designers to automate the generation of simulations from system models. The main innovative aspect of the proposed technology relies on the possibility of enacting distributed simulations without programming skills and modelling and simulation know how. In addition, the proposed technology ensures the possibility of representing a complex system design in a visual language as SysML (Systems Modeling Language), which is derived from UML (Unified Modeling Language). The proposed technology takes advantage of a chain of transformations to produce executable java code starting from a visual model of the system. This code is ready to be executed on a distributed simulation infrastructure as HLA (High Level Architecture).
