The institute offers this technology and is looking for companies that are interested in free test measurements and feasibility studies. The institute is looking for research oriented companies from different industries which have a focus on new materials and processes in order to conclude a service agreement.
Description:
The German institute has a central user access platform, where it provides a worldwide unique infrastructure for complementary research with photons and neutrons for external users. The research focuses on advanced engineering materials, materials research with neutrons and synchrotron radiation, active biomaterials and regenerative medicine.

A central activity of the institute is the provision of test measurements or feasibility studies, supported by Europe´s neutron facilities and the EU Horizon 2020 programme. Thanks to this EU funding, which aims at developing the innovation potential of neutron large scale facilities.

Via the service agreement, the German institute aims to promote its unique infrastructure in Europe. Partners can benefit from a free of charge measurement with the neutron and synchotron analytical techniques, which surpass standard laboratory methods.
Interested companies will be asked to submit a short application via the project website. The application will then be discussed by an evaluation panel, consisting of industrial liaison officers at the facilities at short notice. Detailed knowledge about neutron techniques is not mandatory.
Advantages and Innovations:
Neutron and synchrotron radiation analytical techniques offer possibilities, where standard, laboratory based methods reach their limits.

The techniques have already been successfully applied to the following industries:

· Chemical engineering (soft functional materials such as surfactants, polymers, foams, fibers, etc.)
· Microelectronics - from ingots or wafers to on-board devices, nano-materials, quantum computing and advanced data storage.
· Engineering Materials (a vast array including bulk construction materials, magnetic materials, industrial metallurgy, glasses, etc.)
· Environment and Energy (hydrogen fuel cells, CO2 sequestration, lithium batteries, biomass processing, etc.)
