A Dutch applied research institute specializing in the conservation and preservation of so-called moveable cultural heritage would like to participate in European subsidized research and development projects, in particular in Horizon 2020. They seek research partners to investigate the effect of aging, conservation treatments and environment on the appearance and condition of objects of cultural heritage. They offer a collaboration in the framwork of a research cooperation agreement.
Description:
This technology partner is a Dutch applied research institute specializing in the conservation and preservation of so-called moveable cultural heritage in the broadest sense of the word, thus not just art, but also instruments, furniture, paper, photographs, etc. Of interest is interdisciplinary work, thus not just technical studies, but also issues of conservation ethics and philosophy.

The institute has considerable experience in working in European and other international and national cooperative research projects, and has, itself, coordinated European projects in Framework programs FP 6 and FP 7. The institute also has considerable experience and expertise in the assessment and evaluation of cultural heritage value and balancing this with renovations of all types.

The institute would like to participate in European subsidized research and development projects, in particular in Horizon 2020, as well as in regional programs such as Euregio (a cross-border region between the Netherlands and Germany and the first Euroregion).

Specific interests include:
· Effect of vibration and shock on objects in transport, or near construction or public event
· Aging of objects
· Conservation of photographs
· Conservation of mixed media objects
· Conservation of metal objects (e.g. silver, bronze)
· Museum climate
· Virtual retouching of discoloured (museum) objects using light projections

They seek for companies, museums, and other conservation institutes which are able to develop practical solutions in the areas listed. They offer a collaboration in the framwork of a research cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations:
This Dutch institute has considerable experience in working in European and other international and national cooperative research projects, and has, itself, coordinated European projects in Framework programs FP 6 and FP 7. The institute also has considerable experience and expertise in the assessment and evaluation of cultural heritage value and balancing this with renovations of all types.

They work closely with national and international research institutes and heritage organisations, allowing them to apply knowledge developed elsewhere, too.

The Dutch institute may award national scheduled historic building or monument status on behalf of the Dutch Minister. It also designates urban conservation areas on behalf of the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment.
