An Italian biomedical organization of physicians and biomedical scientists, in particular gynaecologists and biologists, operating in the field of assisted reproductive technology (ART), is willing to share its know-how and experience and find suitable partners for research and technology cooperation in the field of predictive toxicology testing for human well-being and fertility. The envisaged role will be end-user engaged in validation of toxicology tests developed by the project.
Description:
The proposing Italian biomedical organization is intensively engaged in the field of gynaecology and obstetrics as well as assisted reproductive technology (ART). It aims to promote biotechnological innovation in medicine, in particular in obstetrics and gynaecology, health and social care.
It gathers multiple skills and experience of gynaecologists, biologists and psychologists who work in the assisted reproductive technology and therapy in Italy and Europe.
Actually, it acts as center of excellence with good statistics results in pregnancy through the assisted reproductive technology (ART). Some figures registered:
- 16-33% of pregnancy with IVU ET technology;
- 18-22% of pregnancy with IUI technology.

Major expertises are in the field of biochemical laboratory test for infertility, pick surgical sperm, oocytes pick up, transfer of pre-embryos in utero and/or freezing of embryos and oocytes.

Every year in Italy from 20,000 to 45,000 new couples requiring specialist advice because they have trouble to have a baby. According to the Italian national Statistical Institute, approximately 15 000 -20 000 of these couples need a diagnosis to find the causes of infertility and to identify the most appropriate medical therapy to facilitate or enable the conception.

For this reason, the organisation is willing to share all its know-how and technical infrastructures to test and validate new toxicology testing to investigate infertility causes. The organization is interested to evaluate and promote, new approach to improve the efficiency of predictive toxicology testing, therapeutic and biotechnological innovation to understand complex biological pathways of toxicological relevance and to identify early markers predictive of toxicological effects in humans with the objective of developing a validated routine test.

The assisted reproductive technology (ART) center with its instruments, its experts and the medicine knowledge can contribute to improve toxicological knowledge, commercial exploitation of developed toxicological testing methods.
