Description:
A Dutch SME, partner of an international group, is specialized in the development of advanced microfluidic and nanotechnology product solutions based on a toolbox. Two important tools in the toolbox are:
1. A Photo Sensitive Glass Ceramic (PSGC) material.
2. A room temperature bonding process.

On the basis of these two tools, the PSGC material and the room temperature bonding process, it is possible to develop and produce a wide variety of new microbiological, mechanical, electrical and optical components, products and processes for the advanced microfluidic and nanotechnology market segments.

One of the applications is the dynamic electro fluidic lens, which consists of a number of fluids, hermetically sealed in between glass plates, while simultaneously electrical connectors have been embedded in the bond. The lenses can be used in a variety of applications and have been made 100% leak-proof. A dedicated development kit is available for the custom-made design of new fluidic lenses.

· Design flexibility, one can change at will the diameter of the liquid lens, the zero-voltage value of the optical power, the index of the fluids, the range of dioptric corrections as well as the position of this range regarding to an offset position.
· Programmability, camera module manufacturers can use liquid lenses for autofocus and benefit from free focus integration to suppress costly individual adjustment during manufacturing.
· Production on wafer level, therefore cost effective.
