Un instituto académico de investigación de Bulgaria con una sólida experiencia en química orgánica e investigación interdisciplinar ha desarrollado líquidos no tóxicos con bajos puntos de congelación que contienen glicerol y varios aditivos, como nuevos inhibidores de corrosión, bactericidas, antioxidantes, etc., dependiendo del uso al que se destinen. Los anticongelantes de glicerol han suscitado una gran atención porque el glicerol se ha convertido en un subproducto fácil de obtener en la producción de biodiésel. A diferencia del glicol, el glicerol no es tóxico y es menos agresivo en superficies metálicas. El instituto busca socios para establecer cualquier tipo de cooperación y continuar con el desarrollo de productos especiales a medida basados en estas formulaciones y ampliar su uso potencial.

An academic research organization, with main interests in the field of organic chemistry, has developed non-toxic liquids with low freezing points, containing glycerol and various additives, novel corrosion inhibitors, bactericides, antioxidants, etc., depending on their intended use.
Glycerol-containing antifreezes have recently attracted much attention, because glycerol has become readily available as a by-product in biodiesel production. Unlike ethylene glycol, glycerol is not toxic and less aggressive to metal surfaces. Depending on the diverse performance requirements for antifreezes with different intended use, liquids with custom tailored formulations have been proposed. The additives are new environmentally-friendly corrosion inhibitors, wetting agents, bactericides, antioxidants, accelerators, dyes. The Institute has long standing experience in assisting various businesses with innovative know-how for problem solving and novel technologies in various industries, including the implementation. The institute provides the equipment required and the premises for performing research and testing.
Partners are invited for a research cooperation in order to develop environmentally friendly non-toxic antifreezes for different intended uses, for custom-tailored products, and for the manufacturing thereof.
Advantages and Innovations:
Main advantages of glycerin antifreezes are that:
- they are non-toxic.
- the waste product from biodiesel production - glycerol, is utilized.
By carefully selecting antifreeze additives, custom tailored products can be produced and ¿n optimal ratio between the desired properties and the cost of the products can be achieved.
