Un grupo de investigación español del Sistema Nacional de Salud ha desarrollado un marcador para el diagnóstico no invasivo de la fibrosis renal. Este marcador permite la detección, diagnóstico, predicción y/o pronóstico de la fibrosis renal en un individuo, así como el seguimiento de la eficacia del tratamiento para esta enfermedad. Los métodos actuales de diagnóstico de la fibrosis renal tienen una eficacia limitada y la enfermedad generalmente se detecta cuando se produce un serio deterioro en la función renal. El marcador desarrollado también describe métodos de obtención de datos útiles para realizar el diagnóstico, kits y programas informáticos que ayuden a llevarlos a cabo. El grupo de investigación busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia o cooperación técnica.

A license agreement or a technical cooperation agreement is sought.
Description:
Renal fibrosis is the inevitable consequence of an excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix that occurs in virtually every type of chronic kidney disease. The pathogenesis of renal fibrosis is a progressive process that ultimately leads to end-stage renal failure, a devastating disorder that requires dialysis or kidney transplantation.

Current methods for diagnosis of renal fibrosis have a limited efficacy and it is usually detected when there is already a serious deterioration of renal function.

The Spanish research group has created a marker that allows detection, diagnosis, prediction and/or prognosis of renal fibrosis in an individual, as well as following the efficacy of a treatment for this disease. The marker also describes methods of obtaining useful data to carry out the diagnosis, kits and computer programs that help to carry them out.

The research group is looking for the following collaboration:
-License agreement: framework of authorizing the interested parties to use the technology.
-Technical cooperation agreement: to collaborate with other research teams, companies or foundations.
Advantages and Innovations:
The method for screening, diagnosis, prognosis and tracing of renal fibrosis is accompanied by a kit developed for the purpose of its application. The marker associated with the development of this renal pathology may be of interest both for its early diagnosis and for evaluation of its progression.
