Description:
The Swedish company has developed a new antimicrobial wound patch for wound care applications and are interested to scale-up the technology. The patch consists of a proprietary antimicrobial hydrogel that rapidly and efficiently kills bacteria (incl. numerous resistant bacteria) upon contact and is for local application. The patch does not contain any substances that will be released into the wound. The hydrogel is developed at the company´s site and has today a functional prototype with lab-scale process parameters defined.

The company is in a stage where they would like to assess different types of partnerships and co-operations that would increase their growth and competitiveness. Consequently, they would be interested in discussing different co-development/license models, including joint venture, and other types of commercial/technical agreements.

The technology´s base can be extended beyond wound care, for example in medical devices at risk of being infected (catheters, surgical sheets).

Advantages and Innovations:
The company´s proprietary patented technology is a new and effective antimicrobial material. The material consists of bioinspired and amphiphilic antibacterial polymers that target and rapidly kill bacteria upon contact, including numerous strains of antibiotic resistant bacteria like Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and E. coli Multiple Drug Resistance (MDR).

The material is highly selective and targets only bacteria while being entirely non-toxic to human cells. Today this concept is a first functional prototype of a preventive wound care patch and has completed extensive scientific evaluation.
