Un instituto de investigación eslovaco ha desarrollado una nueva tecnología para preparar un material compuesto mediante infiltración al vacío de fibras de tungsteno con cobre fundido o moldeo en caliente al vacío de fibras de tungsteno con recubrimiento galvánico. Este material se emplea en la producción de electrodos o contactos eléctricos de componentes giratorios. El instituto ofrece servicios de asesoramiento.

A Slovak research institute has developed a new technology for preparation of special composite materials. The technology of preparation depends on the required properties of composite material and includes the vacuum infiltration of tungsten fibres with molten copper or vacuum hot pressing of galvanic coated tungsten fibres.
The composite material exhibits substantial increase of high-temperature strength while the excellent leading properties of copper remain unaffected. The main advantages include low coefficient of thermal expansion, high electrical and thermal conductivity, high abrasion resistance, and low burning of electric contacts.
