A Korean SME has developed the solid electrolyte made of sheet and powder type ceramics. The invented solid electrolyte has high-ion conductivity, safety, thermal stability, and high energy density. This Korean SME is looking for companies or research institutes related to secondary battery industry for technical cooperation agreements.
Description:
Lithium-ion secondary battery is the most popular type of rechargeable batteries for potable electronics because of its energy density, tiny memory effect, and low self-discharge.

However, it also has risk of ignition and explosion because of impact or overheating on liquid electrolyte. Moreover, the decomposition of liquid electrolyte observed at the voltage over 4.3V is a barrier for lithium-ion secondary battery to broaden its applications such as electric vehicle, energy storage system, etc.

One of the innovative approaches to solve above problems is ASS(All-solid-state) battery. Among three components of battery, anode, cathode, and electrolyte, the Korean SME has material technology of solid electrolyte.

This solid electrolyte is composed of stable oxide and excellent in thermal stability at high temperature because of no evaporation and decomposition. It also shows long battery life due to no side reaction except lithium-ion´s cell reaction. Furthermore, solid integration inside cell makes enables increase of energy density per unit volume.
