Description:
Trends matrix is an ICT expertise tool for design trends analysis in any industrial and service sector. It has been developed based on the experience of observing during 20 years the evolution of different sectors as home equipment and furnishing and leisure activities from toys, playgrounds, theme parks and leisure services. It has been especially useful to identify key agents in every sector and countries that contribute to add value to final products. The main application is to build a company customised observatory to detect opportunities for new products development, from the design to product launch phases.

The tool is based on "knowlegde management" skills, accessing to a large number of innovation sources, classifying them by interest, tagging them by hierarchy and establishing different selection criteria to get valuable inputs for the decision making process when innovating.

The main advantage is a tailor made trend detector (observatory) that allows you to follow-up every novelty along the value chain of a selected industrial or service sector. The user receives visual information only from the tagged issues and not general information. The Trend matrix is based on intuitive existing software and is adaptable to conventional hardware. User experience has been tested in recent years in toy sector.

A relevant result of this tool has been applied to the Toy sector in Spain and Italy and it manages 800 sources of information matching with the sector requirements.
The tool would be ready for furniture equipment and lighting sectors, food packaging, cardboard sector and transport sector. The tool is adaptable to any sector operated by SMEs.

This tool has been transfered from a research group of one of the most relevant Universities in Spain after 20 years of experience analysing furniture and toy sector, and publishing reports and books on trends.

The spin-off company is looking for partners to help them detect potential users and validate or adapt the tool to specific needs as well as to promote the tool among SMEs.
