Description:
A research lab in a Korean university has developed a technology: a dispersion method of ion conductive ionomer nanoparticles.

The ionomer nanoparticle can be manufactured by nano-dispersing in various forms of perfluorin and hydrocarbon ionomer as well as mixed solvents such as a combination of water and alcohol. The dispersion of ionomers in mixed solvents such as water and alcohol are generally hard to control, leading to high costs manufacturing of ionomers nanoparticles. Other factors such as limitations in control over concentration, solvent composition and specific chemical structures also affect the manufacturing of these in nano-particulate sizes.

The technology can be used in the following applications:
- Polymer membrane for electrolyte and electrode binder in fuel cells
- Electrolyte for electrolysis of steam and electrode binder
- Electrolyte for salt water electrolysis
- Electrolyte for vanadium redox flow battery
- Solid polymer electrolyte for secondary battery
- Reverse electrodialysis: RED electrolyte
- Capacitive Deionization: CDI electrolyte
