Estos biosensores han demostrado su eficacia en la detección rápida, selectiva y altamente sensible de antibióticos en muestras de leche después de un simple proceso de preparación. Los biosensores son dispositivos analíticos obtenidos mediante la combinación de una o dos enzimas que funcionan como elemento de reconocimiento biológico y un electrodo como dispositivo de transducción. Description:
The Spanish biotechnology company has developed sensors for the detection of antibiotics in raw milk, based on anthropometric affinity biosensors. These are analytic devices obtained through combination of one or two enzymes that work as the biological recognition element, and an electrode as a physical transduction device. The biological component provides the devices with the selectivity that is lacking in the electrochemical techniques and shortens the energy barrier for the transformation of the substrate in the product. The electrode allows, then, the transduction of the electric signal generated as consequence of the enzymatic reaction.
Therefore, this company proposes the use of these biosensors as an interesting alternative to the detection of antibiotics in milk. This enzymatic biosensor would be immobilized in the surface of the enzymatic transductor, which allows the quantification of the target antibiotic (sulfonamide, tetracycline and beta-lactam)
This sensor system is based in a competitive format in which the free analyte present in the sample and an analogue analyte (which is enzymatically marked) compete for the common spaces in the recognition element. Therefore, the measured signal will be inversely proportional to the antibiotic content in the sample.
All these biosensors have shown to be efficient for the rapid, selective and sensitive determination of antibiotic content in milk samples.
The company is looking for partners to license the technology so they could introduce it into their products or portfolios, or for technical collaboration in order to develop new ones.
