Una empresa suiza ha desarrollado una metodología para preparar una ciudad o región en cuanto a infraestructuras públicas de recarga para e-movilidad. El modelo de cálculo ha sido modificado teniendo en cuenta la introducción estimada en el mercado de vehículos eléctricos, la información estadística y la evaluación de los expertos sobre las características del área. La metodología ha sido probada y validada. La infraestructura de recarga se divide en las siguientes fases: análisis SWOT, evaluación del número de vehículos eléctricos, evaluación del número de estaciones de recarga, posibles modelos de negocio y posicionamiento. Background:
The mass introduction of electric cars has started, and cities and regions face new challenges due to the introduction of electric vehicles. Various studies show that by 2020 f.e. Switzerland may expect a market penetration from a minimum of 2% up to a maximum of 15% of plug-in vehicles.

If one wants to estimate the need for a charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, there are many questions:
- How is the city or region preparing for the electrification of vehicles?
- How many electric vehicles will there be in the city or region in 2020?
- How much will the investment be for the installation of the charging infrastructure?
- How much can the city or region save by planning a need-based primary installation of charging stations?
- How does a paying business model look for the operation of a charging infrastructure?

By setting up a masterplan based on practice and the methodology described, the city or region can prepare in order to guarantee a reasonable and exploitable charging infrastructure, and at the same time avoid misjudge investments.

Masterplan:
The goal of the methodology developed by a Swiss company is to define in a masterplan - in a quantitative and qualitative way - the infrastructure required to meet the needs of the forecasted electric vehicles in a specific area (cities, regions and nations) and timeframe.
A dedicated calculation model has been developed taking into consideration the estimated market penetration of plug-in vehicles, the statistical information and experts´ evaluation about the characteristics of the area.

The masterplan charging infrastructure is based on following sequential phases:
- SWOT analysis: The qualitative requirements of the city or region are determined by analyzing strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats for the electric mobility.
- Evaluation of the number of electric vehicles: The number of electric vehicles is calculated according to the conditions of the specific city or region and based on different existing studies regarding market penetration. All these conditions are classified and calculated according to the time frame. Strengths and weaknesses are evaluated and subsequently used to set up the formula of the number of plug-in vehicles.
- Evaluation of the number of charging stations: The number of charging stations and the appropriate types of infrastructure are determined through specific formulas (verified by third parties), taking into account the relevant features of the city or region and the electric vehicles foreseen within the defined time frame.
- Possible business models: Cost calculation for the implementation of the pubic charging infrastructure of the city or region and analysis of possible business models.
- Positioning: Proposal for the geographic positioning of the charging infrastructure.

Proved -Y- validated:
This methodology has already been validated in several cities and regions (thanks the long experience in the field of EVs, starting in the 80´s). This allows obtaining comparable results. One can achieve comparable results thanks to the standardized calculation method used in several other European cities or regions.

Cooperation:With the methodology, the possible actors - cities, regions and nations - and joint activities in mind a commercial agreement with technical/know-how assistance fits best. The sequential phases in the masterplan show the number of services and exchange that is needed between both parties.
Advantages and Innovations:
Considering the different typology of charging infrastructure actually available on the market (public and private), the masterplan - based on the methodology - can allow cities, regions and nations to:
- Estimate the number of charging stations considering objective criteria and the real demand arising from the estimated plug-in vehicles;
- Consider all the relevant technical specifications of the charging infrastructure, as well as access and possible payment systems, in order to integrate everything in an early-developed plan;
- Achieve comparable results thanks to the standardized calculation method used in several other large European cities or regions
- Optimize the resources allocation through a suitable early planning of the charging infrastructure for x EVs (Electric Vehicles), maximizing the possible savings and avoiding misjudged investments;
- Create a stable foundation for the cooperation among the operators involved in the implementation works (construction, management, etc.)
