La microturbina genera electricidad en el orden de 30 vatios y se utiliza como suministro en aplicaciones en las que no hay conexión a la red, por ejemplo, en monitorización de tuberías, nodos inalámbricos autoalimentados, etc. La empresa busca socios industriales interesados en participar en proyectos en los que aplicar esta microturbina. El objetivo es establecer acuerdos de fabricación y joint venture.

The company is seeking for industrial partner to carry out joint projects where the microturbine can be applied. Manufacturing agreements but also joint ventures agreements are considered.
Description:
Founded in Italy 2013 as a spin-off of a national important technological institute the SME represents a technology-driven micro-enterprise with a specific and strong experience in microturbines study and processing.
In the described context the company has developed an internationally patented coin-sized microturbine designed to generate strategic amounts of electric energy in areas where it is not possible or convenient to electrify and use cables, but where air or gas pressure is available.
The microturbine can produce power in the order of 30 Watts and it can be used as a power supply in areas where pressurized air or gas are available, mostly in off-grid applications, e.g. pipeline monitoring, self-powered wireless nodes etc.
The microturbine is provided with a companion power conditioning electronic board and it is suitable for feeding equipment wherever a sufficient pressure drop exists. It harnesses the potential energy of the pressurized air/gas in a pipeline to generate locally electricity harvesting the available energy for free, with no emissions or burning of fuel. This is possible due to the gas flow (e.g. in a pipeline) and the pressure drops that are already present accross pressure reducing valves.
Relevant key features are the following:
· 30 W electric output with available air/gas pressure (2 bar) locally produced in areas where there is no electricity

The microturbine system can help to optimally control the fluctuation of renewable energy generators (wind, PV) in not-electrified systems.
The company is interested in manufacturing agreements and joint venture agreements with both SMEs and large companies so to develop joint projects in the field of self-powered instrumentation, smart gas grid and energy recovery from compressed air.
Industrial partners active in wireless and monitoring instrumentations, utilities, oil-Y-gas instrumentation are considered as primary. Contacts with foreign local municipalities are considered relevant as well.
Advantages and Innovations:
The most innovative elements introduced by the developed technology are related to its miniaturised dimensions, the possibility to integrate the turbine with existing electrical generators, the particular design conceived to be introduced into the gas supply pipelines, taking advantage of existing pressure drops and gas flow in the system to generate electricity so to use the systrem to power apparatus for the monitoring and control of the pipeline.
The microturbine can be used to recharge buffer batteries in areas where otherwise it would not be possible, namely along gas distribution networks, to power up monitoring sensors (including wireless sensors) and instrumentation, in areas far from power cables.
The microturbines could act as back up or locally recharge batteries by exploiting and re-circulating a small quantity of gas.
In the same way, the microturbine allows a delocalized power supply along the utility distribution grids (Smart Grids), for example as either main or backup power source of monitoring sensors and control stations.
Furthermore the developed microturbine system can help to optimally control the fluctuation of renewable energy generators (wind, PV) in not-electrified systems: when the renewable energy is available, part of it is used to compress air and recharge the tank; when the energy is limited or not available, the microturbine will generate the necessary power.
