Una importante ventaja del modelo es la posibilidad de aplicarse en educación, investigación, meteorología, protección, gestión de desastres e industria de la construcción. Summary:
A Hungarian university research group built a computer controlled hydrological, geomorphological and physical geological modelling board. The aim of the sand table is to model the above mentioned phenomena in a realistic way. A great advantage of the model is that it can be applied in education, research, meteorology, insurance, disaster management and construction industry. The group seeks partners to use its technology within the framework of a research cooperation and/or a service agreement.
Description:
The researchers of the Hungarian university has decades of experience in the field of geomorphology, floodplain experiments and extreme environmental impacts -Y- hazards.

The aim of the sand table designed is to make it possible to model the naturally occurring hydrological, geomorphological and geological stochastic phenomena in the most realistic way, and to make possible with its help to replicate the verification of the computer models.
Tilting and lifting mechanisms are linked to the programmed system for this purpose, which are suitable to run long time scale processes. The modelling system can adopt a stereographic evaluation system (currently under construction) which - with the help of eight cameras - takes 60 photos per minutes and makes it possible to provide a full, computerized terrain analysis. (Similar construction can only be found in the US, but it is smaller and non-computer controlled.)

The sand table - inter alia - is able to demonstrate the effects of e.g. the geomorphological development of flood basins, flood events in physical models. Based on the particle size modelled with the help of coloured materials, the deposition system and the transportation route of the transported materials can immediately be evaluated visually as well. It is possible to run or rebuild such geological events where fracture, reverse fault, or lateral shear has a role in the evolution of the landscape.

The system is computer controlled, and it perfectly replicates the real moves with the help of its electric motors. It is able to reproduce the lifting and descent of a certain mountain, but it can also visualise the building or destroying effects of the rivers on their environment.
