SME with offices in Zagreb, Croatia and Luxembourg is offering tailor-made software solutions and all round software support for the satellite industry for more than 15 years.
The solution is a generic monitor and control system used for ground segment of satellite systems. It can be used as a standalone solution configured for specific system, or big, more complex systems could be built on top of it.

Features:

Overall Security - it implements a user management system that can be used solely as an integral part of the product or can be integrated with existing LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) system.
Beside user management, security is gained by using secured protocols for communication with external modules. The entire communication goes over HTTPS (Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol). This also makes it firewall friendly.
Another aspect of security is "token management" which prevents simultaneous configuration and control of the same system by multiple users.
All of the mentioned aspects bring high level of overall security.

Rules and Alarming - anything can be a rule in the system. Since the decision making process is based on an extremely powerful rule engine, an operator can define different actions and conditions in a very convenient and easy way. Only a few minutes are needed to make the system rule based on the operator´s idea - choosen devices, logical condition and submition.
Alarming in the system relies on the described rule engine. It is simple and easy to define conditions which trigger various actions, e.g. switching to a new uplink chain, or turning on the light and buzzer, or just sending an SMS (Short Message Service) or email to an operator as a warning of an alarm.

Drivers Plug-in - one of the main requirements for the system is to be able to add a new instrument driver to the system in the easiest possible way....and that is one of the biggest advantages of this solution.
In order to add a new driver, operator has to draw the instrument symbol in any open source SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) drawing tool and write a simple XML (Extensible Markup Language) file to map it to the system driver protocol, no coding, no recompiling.
It is easy to use, follows the plug-in and plug-out concept and it is the reason that this library of drivers is constantly growing.

Extensive Logging Mechanism - logging of system-wide events is one of the main features a monitor and control system must support. On the other hand, sometimes it´s hard to see a single event through the whole forest of events. This is why this solution allows configuring the logging rate per instrument or per parameter. It is possible to log critical parameters more often and the ones less important only occasionally.
Also, the logging mechanism could be one of several - regular DB (database), round-robin DB, system logging protocol, to a remote file, etc.

It is a first system of a kind compliant with HTML5 (HyperText Markup Language) technology and based the schema on SVG technology (Scalable Vector Graphics).
It means that it´s possible to take any of the existing (free) SVG editors, draw a schema, and this SME can make a monitoring and control system around it. And thanks to the benefits of SVG technology, the schema automatically resizes for different screen sizes - it can be projected on a big screen in a Network Operation Center or on a small screen of a mobile device.
