The solution is based on an innovative mechanical design of the combustion chamber that enables prolonged expansion for increased efficiency. The inventor is searching for industrial, research or engineering partners interested in technical cooperation, manufacturing agreement, commercial agreement with technical assistance or license agreement.
Description:
The diesel cycle represents a thermodynamical cycle used in internal combustion engines. To increase the efficiency of the diesel cycle engines significant RTD efforts are being placed on improving the different aspects of these engines (e.g. the cycle, mechanisms, governing controls and similar).
The presented solution focuses on the mechanical design of the combustion chamber and is mainly applicable for the two-stroke diesel engines. It offers a new approach to the chamber's design by proposing an additional mechanism that is mechanically connected with the engine's crankshaft. This enables for different kinetics within the engine allowing the engine cylinder and chamber to move together coaxially in relation to the piston.
By enabling the movement of the engine cylinder, the combustion cycle is extended. Namely, a larger volume is being created between the piston and combustion head, which enables improved utilisation of the energy from the combusted gasses. By capturing the residual energy from these gasses, the thermodynamical efficiency is increased, additional power is generated and the fuel efficiency is improved. At the same time, this new design eases the overall thermodynamic load on the engine.
The solution is especially practical for the stationary diesel engines such as generators or drives for ships.
