A Korean institute has developed the transparent electrode metallic nanowire. The institute is specialised in materials science and has a wide range of human resources, mainly researchers. The nanowire developed by the institute has excellent visibility by patterning its metallic nanowire layer with the heat section.

Generally, the transparent conductive film (TCF) is broadly utilized in the flat liquid crystal displays and touch screens. Indium tin oxide (ITO) film is the representative TCF which is used universally. Nevertheless, ITO is costly and it needs high temperature deposition and vacuum process for the contact formation.

Moreover, it is not suitable for the flexible device since it is easily affected by the bending of the substrate and deteriorates the electrode property. Hence, the transparent electrode using the metallic nanowire is actively researched on.
Existing technologies regarding the nanowire require whether expensive process cost or inefficient process time. The nanowire developed by the institute is cost-effective and it is with excellent visibility by patterning its metallic nanowire layer with the heat section. This nanowire may be utilized in the transistors which are widely used in electronic circuits.
