Description:
A research group in the Department of Electrical Engineering from a well-known Spanish University has designed and developed a technical losses detection system at the level of electronic smart meters located in the customer installation.
This system is integrated directly in the control center of the secondary electrical substation and it allows to compute directly in real-time the technical losses (active and reactive) that occur in each individual client installation connected to the distribution network.
The system adapts to different network topologies and types of the low voltage distribution network and ensures high flexibility and high performance regardless of the technical characteristics of distribution networks.
The University is currently seeking collaboration with partners from the smart grids sector to establish license agreements and extend the range of possible applications for the system.

This system is specifically oriented toward real-time operation of the energy balance in Smart Grids for identifying (active and reactive) technical energy losses that occur due to consumption of each customer in real time.
