Esta nueva composición contiene un ingrediente activo aislado de manteca de cerdo que modula los procesos inflamatorios de forma eficiente y reduce los efectos secundarios relacionados con los productos sintéticos. Se buscan compañías farmacéuticas implicadas en procesos con ingredientes activos y medicamentos antiinflamatorios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia.

This innovative composition contains an active ingredient isolated from pig lard that modulates the inflammatory processes efficiently and reduces side effects associated to synthetic products. Pharmaceutical companies currently engaged in procedures taking active ingredients and anti-inflammatory drugs are sought for licensing agreements.
Description:
A Spanish research group specialized in human physiology, nutrition and biochemistry has developed an innovative topical treatment from 5-dodecanolida involved in inflammatory response.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been used to treat a number of chronic inflammatory disorders. Although these drugs reduce stiffness and pain, they don´t cure or modify the disease. The formulations of the present invention may be commercially available or obtained by chemical synthesis or through an extraction and purification process from pig lard from which researchers have developed principle agents. These compounds with anti-inflammatory properties are generated physiologically allowing the effective modulation of inflammatory processes and the reduction of side effects. Low concentrations are needed to reduce anti-inflammatory action what reveals their anti-inflammation power. The administration route is variable and the composition can change depending on it. However, the topical administration is preferred as an ointment or cream.
Anti-inflammatory properties of active ingredients have been tested through in-vitro and in-vivo experiments with laboratory animals and human immune cells. The current level of development allows an immediate application as long as the corresponding healthcare authorisations have been obtained.

Pharmaceutical companies engaged in the procedure of taking active ingredients and anti-inflammatory drugs interested in a license agreement are being sought.
Advantages and Innovations:
The present invention concerns chemical compounds that are generated naturally in living organisms and regulate inflammatory processes. As anti-inflammatory activity has never been described before in active ingredients of pig lard this innovative treatment opens a new field of study.
The composition for topical treatment from the active ingredient in addition to other compounds could vary depending upon administration route: ointment, cream, gel, paste or spray.

The required concentrations of the active ingredient for its anti-inflammatory action are low, showing a high anti-inflammatory power.
