The technology is also capable of assaying the corrosion of pipes during production. Oil refineries can use the technology to reduce production costs and/or to reduce production loss due to maintenance. The company is looking for partners interested in licensing or R-Y-D co-development.
Description:
The Hungarian SME is developing new imaging methods. Hungarian SME developed and patented a new X-ray imaging methods to visualise hidden motions.

The water and sediment content of crude oil can cause corrosion of equipment and problems in oil refineries. Foaming at crude oil/gas separation and distillation units can result in decreased efficiency, leading to severe financial losses. A reliable means of assessing foam rising, foam collapse, sediment content and sedimentation speed during oil handling could help industrial control optimize procedures to avoid financial losses.

The new X-ray imaging method can help monitoring directly foaming and sedimentation to optimise production and prevent financial damage. Oil refineries periodically shut down for maintenance. The loss in production during maintenance takes large financial loss. With present technologies, a large part of the characterisation of the condition of the equipment can only be done after the production was stopped. This causes extra loss of time and thus of income. The technology could be used to characterise corrosion and corrosion speed of the pipes without stopping production. The new technology could be added with a detector and software upgrade to the instruments.

The company is looking for oil companies and/or manufacturers of industrial X-ray imaging instruments. The technology is available for licensing. The company can offer technical assistance to the manufacturers who implement this technology and open to R-Y-D collaboration projects.

- The technology does not interfere with manufacturing, it can be used during production. A new type of image is acquired which presents previously unavailable information about hidden motions.

- The error of the images is also accurately calculated from the measurements.
