Esta tecnología se aplica por proveedores de servicios especiales de lavandería en hospitales, centros médicos y hoteles para reducir considerablemente la proliferación de bacterias y hongos. Los tejidos conservan las propiedades antimicrobianas y antifúngicas después del lavado, durante el almacenamiento, transporte al hospital y cuando se usan, independientemente del factor humano. Los materiales con propiedades antimicrobianas contribuyen a eliminar o limitar la aparición de infecciones hospitalarias secundarias, reduciendo así el coste de los tratamientos. Description:
A Polish company experienced in providing commercial laundry services for hospitals, medical centres and hotels has implemented an innovative technology of antimicrobial and antifungal impregnation of textiles. The technology is based on the use of silver and copper nanoparticles, effectively reducing the growth of bacteria and fungi on the surface. The fabric preserves these antimicrobial and antifungal properties after washing, in storage, transport to the hospital and in use, irrespective of the human factor. Materials with antimicrobial properties contribute to eliminating or limiting the occurrence of secondary hospital infections, which in turn can be reflected in the reduction of treatment costs. On the basis of the research, just 1% reduction in the number of infections gives 7 to 10% savings in the cost of treatment. The tests conducted on clean sheets have indicated that 55% of the fabrics were contaminated even before the contact with the patient. Impregnation with biologically active metals (silver and copper) prevents the growth of 90 to 99.82% of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria strains and also the fungus Candida albicans (testing according to ISO 20743 standard).

The aperture applied to the fabric using the described technology provides an additional protection against bacteria and fungi.

The company is offering the described solution to partners providing similar services for the medical sector as well as hospitals and medical centres interested in improving their laundry technology and ensure better antimicrobial and antifungal protection. Licence agreement is considered.
Advantages and Innovations:
The innovative technology of application of a layer of biologically active metals guarantees a significant improvement in reduction of the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi. This technology is not commonly used by providers of special laundry services and its implementation is the outcome of the individual research conducted by the company. The major advantage is that, according to the current knowledge of the client, there are no other companies in the EU that implement any similar solution.
