Through the design and the construction of a movable reactor, with high-temperature heating of asbestos, an inert output material 100% safe and reusable is obtained. The company is looking for partners working in the asbestos waste treatment sector, in order to conclude a joint venture agreement.
Description:
The Italian company was founded with the aim of solving, by means of innovative microwave technology, the problem of wastes on an international scale.
The mission of the company is the development, production and sale of highly innovative waste treatment machinery, dedicated to waste treatment.
In particular, the first stage of development focuses on asbestos waste treatment reactors, i.e. asbestos inertisation.
Such reactors are movable and have a low environmental impact. This technology aims at a true short chain of disposal, since it can also be directly operated by the construction site where asbestos was removed. The technology was studied in detail and was implemented at industrial scale level, but not yet for commercial purposes.
European Parliament resolution of 14 March 2013 states that "creating landfills for asbestos waste is only a temporary solution to the problem" and also that "whereas delivering asbestos waste to landfills would not appear to be the safest way of definitively eliminating the release of asbestos fibres into the environment (particularly into air and groundwater) and whereas therefore it would be far preferable to opt for asbestos inertisation plants".
By means of the developed technology, the company in accordance with the mentioned European strategy can help European countries to reach independence from landfills.
At the present rate of removal, 80 years are estimated to be necessary to fully remove asbestos waste from private and working environment.
The company foresees to find a partner in the field of asbestos management sector in order to establish a durable partnership based on a joint venture or the establishment of a dedicated New-Co.
Advantages and Innovations:
Reactors for asbestos treatment are movable.
Reactors can treat any kind of asbestos waste (both compact and friable), including asbestos-polluted soils.
Cost of operation was assessed lower than inertisation competitors and lower than landfilling.
Output material was proven safe; it can be used as high quality secondary raw material in the construction sector following a specific certification in the country of interest.
Exhaust gases are treated by means of a specific technology. Since the cycle is closed, there are no air emissions.
Heat is recovered in order to reduce operational costs.
