They are mainly interested in technical and research cooperation agreements for further development in Northern Europe, USA, Asia.
Description:
An Italian spin-off of the University of Bologna established in 2014, developing national and international researches in the field of active and healthy ageing and in the field of movement disorders such as Parkinson´s Disease, offering wearable solutions to monitor, assess and rehabilitate the motor function. They offer three different solutions of mobile health within the analysis of movement: long term monitoring (i.e. motor Holter), tools to test motor function and rehabilitation. A long term monitoring guarantees an objective assessment of the physical activity, characterizing the motor ability of the examined subject. The developed solutions for functional tests tools (e.g. Timed Up and Go, 10 meter walking, Postural Sway, etc.) are based on wearable inertial sensors and smartphones, supplying an objective assessment of motor performances in support of a diagnosis. The offer of wearable solutions for motor rehabilitation enables to automatically identify the characteristics of subjects through a real-time analysis of their movements, giving an immediate feedback, useful to improve their motor performances. Such system can be used directly at the patient´s home. The team has a long lasting experience on research and innovation, gained through EU research projects and the participation to a wide net of collaborations with national and international institutions.
R-Y-D activities exploit their expertise on embedded systems design, real-time and predictive algorithms, biomedical signal processing, biomechanical modelling, applications, wearable sensors and sensor fusion, health applications, statistical analysis and data mining.
R-Y-D experiences are in the fields of:
· Wearable systems for monitoring and conditioning human motor function
· Development and deployment of wireless personal-area-network for tele-medicine applications, remote monitoring and tele-rehabilitation of balance and movement in older and chronic diseased subjects in the home environment
This systems provide objective quantification of physical activity, characterizing user´s mobility and behaviour. The approach can detect changes in behaviour and motor performance, offering unique advantages for long-term health monitoring.
The spin-off offers two types of monitoring solutions:
· Wearable sensors: dedicated miniaturized wearable sensors that ensure high accuracy and resolution and are suitable for clinical research and epidemiological studies. These wearable sensors can be controlled by smartphones or tablets using user-friendly applications. Smart accessories are also available, allowing an easy management of a high number of units. Researchers collecting data in large cohort studies will definitely appreciate these accessories.
· Smartphone application: a smartphone application that records the user´s motor activities without interfering with her/his daily activities. This application empowers the user to be an active member of her/his healthcare.
They are interested in research cooperation agreement and technical cooperation agreement by providing their expertise and/or their systems. They can also collaborate in the fields of strategy development, proposal preparation, implementation, and exploitation.

The person under examination can normally perform some of the more common functional tests while wearing this system. Dedicated software will automatically analyse the recorded data and provide a report characterizing the person´s motor status.
