Description:
Conversion of circular reciprocating motion into circular motion, or vice versa is normally achieved by cranks .A crank is an arm attached at right angles to a rotating shaft by which reciprocating motion is imparted to or received from the shaft. It is widely used and well known because almost all reciprocating engines use cranks (with connecting rods) to transform the back-and-forth motion of the pistons into rotary motion.
An italian inventor has developed an alternative to the traditional crank mechanism. Such solution has been designed for better performing with reciprocating alternative torques and consists of a mechanical converter of alternate rotational mode into continuous mode. The invented solution permits to transform two ways rotations also with different torque into a continuous one way rotation output shaft with constant torque. The mechanical converter includes:

1) An input shaft where alternate torques (clockwise and anti-clockwise), even with different amplitude, can be applied.

2) A complex system of pulleys, shafts, freewheels and spinning wheels for converting the applied power.

3) An output shaft that, because of the above described couplings, always rotates in the same direction and provide a constant torque in spite of an alternative and variable input.

The inventor would like to license this solution and is looking for interested manufacturers of mechanical converters.

Advantages and Innovations:
The system permits to overcome several defects of traditional crank mechanism such as: high friction (lubrication and heat to be wasted), heavy weight (due to heavy spinning wheels and thick shafts), vibration, reduced energy efficiency.
The mechanical converter permits to avoid the above mentioned problems by balancing the possible asimmetry of the clockwise and anti-clockwise torque applied to the input shaft by means of free wheels caracheterized by very limited friction.
This results in a more efficient and smooth transfer of power to the output shaft even when different torques are applied to the input shaft.
