Investigadores españoles han desarrollado un dispositivo autónomo de bajo coste para riego y protección de plantas en zonas rurales. Este dispositivo, que permite el crecimiento de árboles pequeños u otras plantas en zonas rurales, acumula agua de lluvia para riego suplementario mientras que protege a las plantas de otras adversidades, como inclemencias o animales herbívoros. El dispositivo es útil para plantar en zonas áridas o para reforestación, deteniendo la desertificación o luchando contra el cambio climático. Se buscan empresas, fundaciones medioambientales o patrocinadores con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia para explotar la patente, así como acuerdos de investigación y cooperación técnica para continuar con el desarrollo.

Description:
Spanish botanical researchers working on palynological studies and harvest forecasting, have developed and patented a device for protection and irrigation of plants formed by a non-waterproof structure for the protection of the plant combined with a reservoir capable of storing and collecting rainwater. This device shape is suitable for providing protection to a seedling, for example, against herbivores or excessive sunlight. It does not restrict the input of natural rainfall received by the plant and also makes a supplementary delayed irrigation from rainwater, captured by the container. This allows the development of plants that need some protection and extra water contribution during the period of acclimation to their land of plantation, which is common during the seedling phase. It is useful for planting in arid sites or for reforestation, which can be used for stopping desertification or fighting to climate change.
Companies, environmental foundations or sponsors are welcome to finance or to get a licence agreement for exploitation of this patent. Furthermore, research and technology agreements for further development are sought.
