Este nuevo dispositivo puede emplearse para realizar análisis en distintos campos, desde medicina o agricultura hasta el sector militar. El dispositivo analiza sangre, orina y sudor y también se utiliza para analizar sustancias tóxicas en aguas subterráneas, el contenido de pesticidas y otras sustancias químicas en alimentos, etc. Se trata de un instrumento portátil capaz de medir cambios rápidos de concentración en una solución. La universidad busca socios interesados en establecer acuerdos de licencia.


Innovative device for analysis of biological and chemical substances in liquids. Looking for licensee.
A well-known Czech university has invented a new device (potentionstat) for analysis of biological and chemical substances in liquids.This innovative device can be used for many kinds of analyses from medicine to military purposes. It is a small portable device which is able to measure rapid concentration changes in sollution.
The university is looking for a partner interested in license agreement for application at the market of potentiostats (manufacturing, distribution, using, etc.).
The R-Y-D (research and development) team behind the profile is a part of the one of the biggest technical university in the Czech republic with strong international relations. The team focuses on development of smart nanodevices usable in the area of electrochemical analysis; e.g. eletrodes covered by carbon nanotubes, or microfluidic systems (so called Lab-on-chip).

This progressive (bio)technology enables to analyse presence and quantity of toxic and biologically important compounds in liquids. It is constructed as an integrated, intelligent, electrochemical device, which can be used in medicine, agriculture, industry as well as military applications. The device is able to carry out the analysis of blood, urine and sweat for human medical purposes. It might also be used for the analysis of toxic substances in liquids such as the analysis of groundwater, content of pesticides and other chemicals on grown food etc.

The whole device consists of a measuring electrode part (sensor), an integrated potentiostat, and auxiliary circuits, which control the complete measurement process, process the data and pass them on to the user (connection to PC).

The complete device is able to use/evaluate a range of different instrumental analytical methods, e.g. cyclic voltammetry or pH of the liquid, etc. The device monitors chemical and biochemical processes in liquids without losing information of the signal, due to elimination of parasitic noise between the sensor and the potentiostat reached by innovative construction of the device. This advantage enables measurement of the fast step changes (dozens of milliseconds) in liquid pollutions that current devices are not able to monitor.

The potentiostat includes necessary firmware which manages the entire process of measuring, processes and evaluates the measured data, and passes them to the superior systems for the further use by an user. User friendly software is added for easy use, operation and display of the data and characteristics.

As for a envisaged partnership: The Czech university would like to provide license to small or medium or multinational enterprise, who should be manufacturer engaged in the area of microelectronic industry focused on devices for chemical and biochemical analysis such as potentiostats. The provided license would enable enterprise (licensee) to manufacture and sell/distribute the devices.
The Czech university is ready to provide comprehensive knowledge transfer to enable licensee to manufacture the devices in a higher volumes.
Advantages and Innovations:
- ability to measure rapid changes in the analyzed substances bringing more accurate data,
- miniaturization of the system in comparison with current potentiostats. Size 10cm x 16cm x 3cm,
- elimination of parasitic noise between the sensor and the potentiostat,
- utilization in the field as a portable diagnostic laboratory,

- lower production cost in comparison with current potenciostats.
