The company is looking for manufacturing agreements and commercial agreements with technical assistance in Spain, Germany, Austria and France.
Description:
The company was founded in 2004 in Italy by the idea of developing design technologies and solutions able to ensure environmental, economic and social sustainable development. It was set up from a group engaged in a research and development project, funded under a waste disposal and alternative energy initiative. From this experience, it was born the idea of creating a company that would operate in the biogas sector, energy efficiency and environmental analysis providing enterprises and research institutions - such as universities and technological parks - design services, management, prototyping and consulting. In order to test and develop their own research projects, in 2005 the company has been equipped with its own equipment. By offering this long experience and specific expertise, this innovative technology approaches the weed-control in different areas by displace fossil fuels with pellet, agri-pellet, lignocellulosic biomass residues or charcoal and not by the combustion of fossil fuels. The material product consists of a hand-held wheeled or tractor hold device using heat to kill weeds. The weed-control effect is provided by exposing weeds to the hot gases generated during combustion and pyro-gasification of pellet, agri-pellet or charcoal. The heat production can be controlled and optimized electronically by an integrated automation system. The auxiliary devices of the apparatus are powered with battery. The temperature of hot gases used as weeding heat agent may vary from 400 to 600 °C, depending on the type of application. Moreover the device is able to process biomass/pellet and at convenient air ratio it is possible to produce biochar which can be used as soil improver; so doing carbon is stored in the soil as an additional environmental saving. It has been designed to be gender independent. The company is looking for partners in Spain, Germany, Austria and France for the industrialization and the deployment of the product, though commercial agreements with technical assistance and manufacturing agreements.
Advantages and Innovations:
Thermal weed-control commercial technologies are mainly based on the application of the heat generated by the combustion of fossil fuels such as liquefied petroleum gas or diesel. The device has been conceived and designed to displace fossil fuels with pellet, agri-pellet, lignocellulosic biomass residues or charcoal. Likewise commercial solutions, the application does not pose fire hazard. This device result safe, as no pressurized gas is stored, and sustainable, due to the use of renewable biomass. This feature implies a different set of technologies, based on pyro-gasification of biomass intended to provide heat and energy for weed-control rather than energy. It can be used for weed-control in different areas: organic farming, green urban management, weed-control along roads and railways, greenhouse cultivations, horticulture, nursery production, agricultural plot maintenance. The users´ primary need is to avoid chemical herbicides as glyphosate, considered potentially dangerous for human and animals. In addition, other needs are strictly associated to this device functionality and regard the non-chemical way for weed-control using a mobile apparatus which is safe, efficient and effective, easy to carry, cheap for the investment and operating cost. Further features contribute to add value and meet users´ secondary needs such as: lower carbon footprint by using renewable fuels (pellet, woodchips) and lignocellulosic residues from own agricultural practices; no water consumption; optional biochar production from pyro-gasification for soil improver purpose.
