The company is interested to establish commercial/technical/research cooperation with partners in health care operations, distributors of medical devices and researchers.
Description:
The assistive eating device was developed in Sweden by a man who was himself in need of a good assistive eating device due to complications from Polio. The main goal during the development process has been to make it user-friendly for persons with limited arm function and provide highest independence during mealtime. The product is classified as a medical device and is designed to fit into the table environment as it is slim, has soft movements and operates quietly. It is a small robotic arm with a spoon at the end that is controlled by the user and can also be adjusted for each individual user by choosing a control device suitable for specific needs e.g. buttons, joystick or foot control depending on the need of the user. By choosing a suitable control device, the user can independently control the movement of the spoon on the plate and choose what and when to eat. This makes it possible for persons with different disabilities to use the device and control the eating process which gives them independence and at the same time decrease the demands on the caregivers during the mealtime. It is used by persons with diagnoses like cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson´s disease and spinal cord injuries.

Today the assistive eating device has been on the market for three years and have sold 250 units. The Swedish company is seeking partners within health care such as public/private care providers (hospitals) and/or elderly homes for commercial agreement to implement the device into their operation. The company wish also to establish distribution cooperation agreements with medical device distributors. The company is also interested in research and technical cooperation with researchers and care homes interested to adopt the device for specific needs.
