The SME is looking for companies interested in acquisition, license and/or manufacturing agreements.
Description:
A Spanish engineering consulting SME, with experience in the design, development, standardization and homologation of cut-out fuses, limiters, surge arresters and medium voltage technology, provides advice to companies in high voltage technological devices. The company has developed an innovative device, which installed inside the fuse, protects against overcurrent in electrical circuits, such as fuse link, backup current limiting fuses and semiconductor protection fuses.

The new development is a fuse resistant to the pulses originated by singularities, such as atmospheric discharges (generally lightning), circuit close-opening operations or electrostatic discharges.

This new technology can be used in any kind of low-power transformer (up to 50kVA) and medium-power transformers. Besides, this technology avoids using sufficiently high rated current fuses, which prevent themselves from blowing out in the presence of electrical impulses at the expense of not protecting the transformer correctly.

The innovation lies in the automatic deviation of the lightning or the electrical impulse using an alternative path based on the skin and electromagnetic effects. In this way the electrical current passes through a thin and standard electrical conductor suitable for the protection of each electrical transformer and the electrical impulse or the lightning passes through a larger gauge conductor. With this technology the transformer is properly protected with the appropriate fuse and lighting arresters can be used in the current electrical line without risk of the untimely and inopportune blowing out of the fuse.

The SME is looking for companies interested in acquisition, license and/or manufacturing agreements for the commercialization and exploitation of this product; nevertheless is open to any other possible technological cooperation.
