Description:
Ready mixed concrete has been a dominant construction material since the end of the nineteenth century and is second only to water in worldwide consumption by volume. Yet every structural engineer knows that concrete is too heavy. Concrete´s excessive weight and inconsistent texture, due to the uneven distribution of gravel aggregate, makes it vulnerable to cracking and deterioration, especially under the chemical influence of water, acids, and other common environmental stressors.

Vast amounts of money have been spent on research into additives (admixtures) and processes to alter the basic concrete recipe, but nothing has succeeded in solving the weight problem without making the material dramatically weaker or costly. Either the solutions are radically more time-consuming and expensive, or they do not achieve an adequate ratio of density to strength to enable a full range of uses comparable to those of concrete.

This UK SME has succeeded in achieving the ultimate cost effective construction material. It has developed a new advanced cement based building material which when compared to traditional ready-mix concrete:

- Is at least 50% cheaper (ready mixed comparable blend);
- Has a 53% to 75% better weight to strength ratio;
- Is at least 28% lighter, eliminating "dead weight";
- Has no heavy gravel to purchase or transport;
- Is manufactured on-site, on-demand production;
- Can be pumped vertically and horizontally in excess of 50 Metres;
- Is a fully homogenous mixture for consistent strength and density throughout;
- Is self-compacting: no compaction, vibrating or tamping is necessary;
- Has excellent durability - the material will not crack;
- Is completely fireproof;
- Is impervious to moisture.

The company is seeking exclusive licensing agreements with construction companies, concrete manufacturers, and entities wishing to sub-license within geographical regions.
Advantages and Innovations:
Compared to traditional concrete the new material is:

Less expensive - it is 50% to 90% cheaper than traditional concrete, depending on density and application, and it eliminates the cost of gravel aggregate, transportation, and waste. There is also no need for additional labour, tamping, or vibrating equipment to compact the material after it is poured because it is self-compacting. The costs of steel bar reinforcement are also reduced or eliminated with the material depending on the application.

Lighter - it delivers high compressive strengths at lower densities and will not crack under its own weight.

Consistent - the manufacturing machine produces a completely blended and homogenous mix for consistent strength throughout the material.

Heat resistant - the material will maintain its integrity even under intense fire temperatures.

Multi-purpose - it can be manufactured to any density from 400kgs/Mt³ to 1,850kgs/Mt³ to suit a wide range of applications. It is also impervious to moisture, provides excellent insulation, and has greater acoustic qualities than traditional concrete, making it a better choice for many specialty applications.

Lower carbon footprint - it requires far less raw material, significantly reducing transportation requirements and carbon emissions.
