Description:
A university in South Korea has developed a caching method and installation technology using nearby devices. Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a contents transmission technology proposed to implement the data caching strategy that addresses the increased network traffic. CDN disperses mutual servers at the edge of the network to improve the quality of internet service.

Duplicated contents are saved on several devices nearby to provide immediate access to data when contents are requested. CDN is a technology to support contents, especially video and audio streams and other high capacity contents or contents that are frequently requested. ¿

The CDN shall be located near contents providers´ web servers who are often far from their clients. CDN disperses the contents to the host servers of internet service provider (ISP). Whenever clients demand the contents, relevant host servers can provide the contents. For example, when the users nearby request similar data, data is served by devices nearby and not directly to CDS server, averting congestion at CDS. This way, sending and receiving data is fast and easier with the dispersion effect.

Therefore, users can check the local network (neighboring devices) for the availability of requested contents or data. If available, the contents can be transmitted to them faster. In this way, the server load at CDS can be reduced. Also when the data is shared among different devices nearby based on the person to person methods, the data can be hosted on nearby host servers which increase the efficiency of data sharing.

The university offers license agreement and commercial agreement with technical assistance. Partners in industry who can produce the technology and contribute to its further development are needed.
