The institute seeks commercial agreements with technical assistance with lead acid battery manufacturers interested in the invention.
Description:
The Bulgarian research institute is a leading organisation in Europe in the field of electrochemical research, batteries, fuel cells and hydrogen technologies. The institute has implemented successfully international and national projects together with industrial and research partners.

When lead-acid batteries are in a state of low current discharge, electrochemical and re-crystalisation processes occur and as a result large lead-sulphate crystals are formed. The formed crystal structure is hard to be dissolved and inhibits the consequent charging processes due to sulphatisation of the negative electrodes.

The innovative method developed by the institute addresses the problem of the degradation of the charging characteristics of lead-acid batteries though controlling of the re-crystalisation of the lead-sulphate crystal structure and limitation of the crystal growth rate within the volume of the negative electrodes at low-current discharge through a technological approach which is a secret know-how of the institute.

The institute seeks commercial agreements with technical assistance with interested companies willing to implement the innovative method in their testing procedures, receiving know-how from the institute.
