Un instituto de investigación búlgaro con más de 50 años de experiencia en I+D en el campo de química física ha desarrollado un nuevo método y dispositivo optoelectrónico para el diagnóstico muy preciso del síndrome del ojo seco. Este método y dispositivo estudia microcantidades de la película lacrimal para determinar la elasticidad como parámetro de diagnóstico y detectar cambios en el estado normal del ojo. La prueba es muy rápida y se realiza en unos minutos. El instituto busca empresas de los sectores de medicina, oftalmología y diagnóstico interesadas en implementar la tecnología y establecer acuerdos comerciales con asistencia técnica.

Description:
A Bulgarian research institute with more than 50 years of experience in R-Y-D in the field of physical chemistry has developed an innovative opto-electronic method and device for the studying of micro amounts of tear film to determine the elasticity as a diagnostic parameter for changes in the normal condition of the eyes.

The diagnosis of dry eye is currently still a challenging task in most cases. Several factors contribute to making diagnosis difficult and warrant further attention: the invasiveness and low degree of standardization of most conventional, the still incomplete knowledge about the pathophysiology underlying the phenomena measured by some of these tests and the overlapping of dry eye symptoms with those of other conditions. Noninvasive tests are still not wide-spread, either because they require expensive instruments or because of their complexity.

The method and device are one of a kind. The whole process which is a secret know-how of the institute ensures very high precision and very quick testing (several minutes) in comparison to existing tests.

The institute is looking for commercial agreements with technical assistance with companies working in the medical and clinic sector, ophthalmology and diagnostics for the implementation of the innovation into the practice, providing the necessary know-how and adapting it to the specific needs of the company.
