Una universidad andaluza ha desarrollado una nueva metodología para obtener un cultivo puro de células ependimarias multiciliadas a partir de explantes de las paredes del ventrículo cerebral de roedores con una alta eficacia y mediante el uso de incubación fría, evitando el etiquetado con anticuerpos. Las células ependimarias son células epiteliales multiciliadas situadas dentro de las paredes del sistema ventricular del cerebro adulto en la interfaz entre el CSF y la parénquima neuronal. Los cultivos puros de células representan un modelo para investigar células ependimarias multiciliadas y células ciliadas en general. Se buscan fabricantes de kits de diagnóstico clínico interesados en explotar esta metodología bajo una licencia de patente.

Manufacturers of clinical diagnostic kits are sought, interested in exploiting this funding under a patent licence or manufacturing agreement.
Description:
Ependymal cells are multiciliated epithelial located inside the ventricular system walls of the adult brain in the interface between the CSF and neural parenchyma. Due to its localization and their intercellular connections it has an hypothetical function like barrier against harmful substances for the CNS producer of CSF as well as the transport of molecules between the compartments. Furthermore, ependymal cells extend multiple cilia from their apical surface, why ependymal cells are involved in the motility of the CSF. There is also strong evidence that ependymal cells participate in the neurogenesis and development of CNS.
Pure cell broths represent a model for the research of multiciliated ependymal cells and for the research of ciliated cells in general. The present invention describes a method for obtaining a pure cell culture of multiciliated ependymal cells derived from explants of adult rodent´s brain ventricle walls with a high efficacy, i.e. high yield of cells using a step of "cold" incubation and avoiding the labeling with antibodies. The institution is interested in licensing agreement or manufacturing agreement.
