Description:
A Macedonian company has developed new social software for facilitating internal social networking in the enterprises. The software solution is based on a social intranet platform that improves the collaboration among the employees by creating an environment for exchange of knowledge, ideas and process updates at different dissemination levels. The solution is fully adaptable to address a variety of enterprises´ needs, regardless of their structure or sector of operation.

The software combines several in-house developed modules that are based on Microsoft´s.NET Framework, JavaScript, Erlang and MongoDB. For achieving a high level of scalability and performance, the overall solution relies on the features of the Microsoft Windows Azure Cloud platform. Particular attention is placed on the data security by applying customized filtering routers, configured firewalls, cryptographic protection of messages dispatched between the VMs, and monitoring. Each employee - user of the social intranet is assigned with an adequate security key and security roles defining the type of the company data that can be consumed. Maintaining complete audit logs for every user action facilitates further the protection of the company data.

The software captures the intellectual capital of the employees and any information (posts, documents, images, questions, groups, or contacts) is available for reuse within few seconds via a meaningful Google like search module. Different types of files can be attached within the platform or picked up from any online service, including social networks (e.g. Dropbox, Skydrive, BOX, Google drive, Instagram, Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, etc.).

The company is interested in exploring the possibilities for commercialisation of the solution at the international market as this will contribute not only to its growth but also to the improved recognition of the platform. Different types of collaboration are identified as suitable, from marketing the solution directly to the end-users, through licensing out, to joint further development or adaptation to particular needs of a certain market. The potential partners will benefit from introducing new product into their existing portfolio and establishing potentially long-term strategic partnership with a professional and knowledgeable partner. The end-users will be able to considerably improve their performance due to the advantages of the solution when it comes to social networking, communication and collaborative work.
