Una universidad turca ha desarrollado un biorreactor para la producción de celulosa bacteriana en diferentes formas. Esta celulosa bacteriana puede emplearse como alternativa a órganos estructurales huecos y en la reparación de estos órganos en los campos médico y biomédico gracias a su alta biocompatibilidad y propiedades mecánicas y químicas. En un futuro próximo se espera que la celulosa bacteriana tenga numerosas aplicaciones en el sector médico y sanitario. La universidad busca empresas con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia.

The university is interested in meeting with related companies in order to form licensing agreements.
Description:
A Turkish university has an invention related to bioreactors used for the production of hollow bacterial cellulose (BC) in desired shapes. This bacterial cellulose can be used instead of hollow structural organs and/or in the repairing of these organs in medical and biomedical fields due to BC´s high mechanical, chemical and biocompatibility.

Owing to its structural advantages and being a natural polymer, the usages and applications of bacterial
cellulose (BC), which is a biomaterial, have expended day by day. Three-dimensional fiber network structure, high water-holding capacity, high crystallinity, high polarization, biocompatibility, high mechanical strength, and not being allergen are some of the features that make bacterial cellulose unique.

The university is looking for commercial partners in order to cooperate under license agreement.

Bacterial cellulose possess usage potential in biomedical fields such as bone tissue scaffold, blood vessel, wound dressing, artificial skin and cartilage, surgical nerve channels, stent coating, contact lenses and peritoneal repairing.
