Una institución académica checa ha descubierto una serie de nuevos derivados de topolina muy activos que se utilizan en árboles de micropropagación in vitro, con una actividad superior a los compuestos actuales. Los nuevos derivados aumentan la productividad y estabilizan la producción de biotecnología en árboles. El desarrollo de una nueva citoquinina con alta actividad morfogenética y mínimos efectos secundarios es esencial para la productividad en biotecnología de plantas. Se buscan socios interesados en producir y lanzar las sustancias al mercado. El objetivo es establecer acuerdos de fabricación, licencia y joint venture.

A Czech academic institution has discovered a number of new, very highly active topolin derivatives which can be used for in vitro micropropagation trees, exceeding the activity of compounds currently used commercially. The institution is looking for a partner interested in the manufacturing of the substances and in getting the substances to the market. Manufacturing agreement, license agreement and joint venture agreement is offered.
Description:
Cytokinins are an important class of plant growth substances. Their interactions with auxins in induction of organ formation in plant tissue cultures are of special importance for plant biotechnology. Particularly, 6-benzylaminopurin (BAP) represents such an important and affordable cytokinin routinely utilized in micropropagation. BAP negatively influences growth, rooting and acclimatization processes in plants. Phytochemical work led to discovery of a highly active compound, meta-topolin and its analogues. In contrast, its hydroxylated form, meta-topolin, does not inhibit root formation which is a typical inconvenient effect of high concentrations of BAP. The development of new CK derivatives exhibiting high morphogenetic activity and lower side effects, like inhibition of rooting, be of a great practical importance in plant biotechnology.
Czech academic institution after 5 years of research discovered number of new, very highly active topolin derivatives, and described their biological properties. The institution demonstrated potential to be used for in vitro micropropagation trees, exceeding the activity of compounds, currently commercially used.
Based on the knowledge of the market and market potential the academic institution start preparation phase to commercialize the research results in this field. The institution is looking for a partner interested in manufacturing of the substances and getting substances to the market. Manufacturing, license agreement and joint venture agreement is offered.
Advantages and Innovations:
New derivatives can help to increase productivity and stabilize production of plant biotechnology in trees. Therefore, development of new cytokinin with high morphogenetic activity with minimal side effects such as inhibition of rooting is of essential for plant biotechnology productivity. High biological activity of 2-3 selected topolin derivatives are confirmed by testing their activity in vitro, cytotoxic and mutagenic safety, but especially their organogenic capacity in semi-commercial scale on in vitro cultures of commercially important plant species, with focus on trees. The academic institution solved synthesis in larger scales and nad confirmed activity from in vitro and in vivo tests.
