Un centro tecnológico ruso especializado en el desarrollo de materiales ópticos ha desarrollado un método único para conectar resinas condensadas con núcleos de benceno y producir un pegamento resistente a la radiación. El pegamento soporta una radiación de hasta E8 rad, un índice de refracción de 1,54 a 1,6 y una temperatura de -190 ºC a +85º C. El centro tecnológico busca socios interesados en continuar con el desarrollo y explotar la tecnología.

A Technology Transfer Centre from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, specializing in the development of optical materials, developed a unique method for connection of condensation resins condensed with benzene nuclei, whereby a radiation-resistant glue was produced. The centre is seeking partners interested in further development and exploitation of the technology.
Description:
At present, glues resistant to vibration, shock and thermal cycling are widely used for connecting solar battery elements, brackets and other parts, and for reparation works on loaded surfaces of space hardware. An essential disadvantage of these glues consists in a significant gas release (up to 8%) under the vacuum and heat conditions. The released gaseous products contaminate the working surfaces of optical electronic equipment mounted on space vehicles, thus reducing their working efficiency.

The radiation-resistant glues have been developed to ensure the cleanliness of the equipment (thus extending its service-life) being operated on external surfaces of rocket and space items.

The glue stands the radiation of up to E8 rad, refraction index being from 1.54 to 1.6, operating temperature range from -190 C to +85 C.
