It is willing to participate in collaborative R-Y-D projects, perform feasibility studies, work on prototypes and set up related pilot lines. It offers to work under a research, a technical cooperation or a services agreement.
Description:
A french technological platform gathering state of the art equipment and world class expertise dedicated to the realization and characterization of optical fibre concept and devices aims at carrying out research and bringing innovation towards fibre lasers. Equipment includes:
Silica glass: two different vapour phase deposition lines (MCVD-Modified Chemical Vapour Deposition, OVD-Outside Vapour Deposition) for low loss, solgel glass realization line, rare earth doping (Yb, Er, Tm,...)
-Chemistry: nanoparticles synthesis to be further incorporated in glass preforms
-Draw: Three draw towers in clean room (class 10 000), for the realization of conventional and micro structured silica optical fibres, as well as large diameter fibre and low fusion temperature glass fibre.
-Post processing and devices: Arc and filament fusion splicers, CO2 laser splicer for splice, taper, combiner, endcap (state of the art and few in the world), flame tapering, metallic deposition on fibre, Fibre Bragg Grating writing, including original technique to write chirped and meter-long grating
-Characterization: Scanning Electron Microscope, X ray diffractometer, index profile measurement on preform and fibre, characterization of optical fibre propagation characteristics (loss, cut off Mode Field Diameter...).

Advantages and Innovations:
The platform is based on the expertise of a world level research laboratory working since more than 25 years on optical fibres and devices. Thanks to this world level expertise and state of the art equipment, the platform has developed key technologies for optical fibre lasers such as microstructured fibre (either silica/air or all solid), rare earth doping (including with nanoparticles for tailored doping), Fibre Bragg Grating. This enables it to offer front edge fibre solutions to bring innovative designs and device development from the laboratory to small series productions.

Type and Role of Partner Sought:
The French platform is willing to participate to collaborative R-Y-D projects, perform feasibility studies, prototypes realization and can put in place related pilot lines. Potential partners include academic laboratories, R-Y-D centers, manufacturers of fibre lasers. The platform can offer innovative solutions for the several areas of applications of fibre laser: industry (marking, cutting, welding) at 1 micron and 532 nm, LIDAR at 1,5 micron, medical. It can offer all-fiber cavity design and realization for a given application, or the realization of specific fibres and/or devices for an already designed cavity. This can be implemented under a research, a technical cooperation or a services agreement, under specifications from the partner.
