Polyphenols are widely used as anticarcinogens and anti-ageing skin boosters. A commercial agreement with technical assistance is sought.
Description:
Four French producers of organic fruits -Y- vegetables established a joint venture to extract antioxidant molecules called polyphenols by using supercritical fluids and enzymatic extraction methods. The first method uses supercritical carbon dioxyde, which is a fluid state of carbon dioxide where it is held at or above its critical temperature and critical pressure. In this form, carbon dioxyde has a solvent ability to attach highly polar molecules. The second method uses specific enzymes which have a natural ability to select and act on such molecules as well. Polyphenols include lutein, indole-3-carbinol, sulphoraphane, glucosinolate, glutathione, quercetin, lycopene... among others, belonging to the flavonoids -Y- carotenoids families of molecules. Fruits -Y- vegetables include tomato, kiwi, carrot, cabbage, asparagus, leek etc... A pilot unit using each extraction method is available for demonstration. Outputs -Y- production yields allow significant added-value with with fair return on investment possibilities, in addition to sustainable conditions of production, compared to existing extraction methods using hexane-based solvents for instance (toxic and petroleum-based).The French producers are looking for pure players in the food supplements -Y- cosmetics business that could be interested in such antioxidant molécules, to be used as anticarcinogens and skin boosters. Potential partners could use the same technology to produce high value molecules out of their local agro-resources at commercial scale. By taking over the know-how of the polyphenols production, partners could select the molecule they want and the feedstock they want for their own applications. A commercial agreement with technical assistance is sought.
