Un investigador italiano especializado en aplicaciones industriales de plasma frío atmosférico ofrece know-how en aplicaciones innovadoras de fabricación de calzado que tienen un gran impacto económico y ecológico, reducen el tiempo de producción, mejoran la calidad del calzado y permiten fabricar calzado con propiedades impermeables mediante plasma atmosférico. El plasma frío se genera en el aire sin necesidad de una cámara de vacío y puede aplicarse en línea. El plasma atmosférico produce radicales gaseosos, siendo el más importante el oxígeno atómico, que oxida la superficie de diversos materiales de forma eficaz sin calentarlos ni quemarlos. Como resultado, la superficie (cuero, polímero, caucho, etc.) adquiere propiedades humectables y absorbe líquidos (pegamentos, suavizantes, etc.) eficazmente. El investigador busca equipos robotizados para líneas de producción de calzado con el fin de integrar la tecnología mediante acuerdos de cooperación técnica.

Producers of robotized machines for footwear production lines are sought for the integration of the technology through technology cooperation.
Description:
An Italian researcher with strong international expertise on cold atmospheric plasma is working to find many novel applications in different branches of industry. Cold plasma is generated in ambient air, without need of vacuum chamber, and it could be applied in line. Atmospheric plasma produces gas radicals and the most important is atomic oxygen that effectively oxides the surfaces of different materials without heating or burning them. As a result, the surface (leathers, polymers, rubbers, etc.) become wettable and it effectively absorbs different liquids (glues, softeners, etc.). With another application, plasma can deposit nano layer on the surface, producing different properties (water repellence, functionalization, etc.). The sources of atmospheric plasma applicable in the footwear industry are remote plasma jets, - versatile instruments that could be easily applied in line, especially in robotized production line. Producers of such robotized footwear production lines are sought in order to establish a technological collaboration in order to implement such a plasma technology in their systems.
Advantages and Innovations:
Atmospheric plasma technology could produce strong economic and ecologic impact for the footwear production sector. Application of ecologic cold plasma processes in production line, especially in robotized production line (Industry 4.0 paradigm), provides real innovation for the footwear industry that was expected since many years. Smart devices of atmospheric plasma don´t need vacuum chambers or specific gases, and could be easily integrated in footwear production line.
Innovative applications of smart plasma jets produce strong impact on quality of final shoes and on ecologic factor of production cycle. Atmospheric plasma, that uses only ambient air, could be applied for:
- optimization of upper - sole bonding (increase of bonding up to 50%);
- reduction of mechanical operations on uppers (saving of operation time up to 50%);
- reduction of discarding for unsecure mechanical treatments;
- complete elimination of cancerogenous fine leather powder;
- improvement of bonding between different materials (uppers, soles, heels, polymer parts, reinforcement layers, etc.) for 30 - 60%;
- reduction of drying time for ca. 50%;
- providing of weatherproof property combined with high breathability of final shoes;
- improvement of ecologic and comfort factor of the weatherproof shoes (elimination of fluorine containing membranes);
- elimination of solvent based glues;
- application of ecologic water based glues;
- elimination of primers and activators for bonding;
- strong improvement of economic and ecologic factor of footwear production.
