A Japanese collagen manufacturer is looking for partners in Europe in terms of research and/or technical cooperation
Summary:
Expert in the manufacturing of medical-grade collagen, the Japanese company is looking for EU partners, such as academic institutes and companies in the sector of life science or medical, to initiate possible research or technical cooperation. The company spent many decades developing innovative application of collagen and accumulated extensive know-how for fabricating various shaped collagen scaffolds and virus-free sustained-release transfection reagents.
Description:
With a vast experience of over 30 years in production of medical-grade collagen for Japanese domestic market, that lead to conducting many important joint researches with Japanese academic institutes and companies, the company is currently targeting new networks globally.

The EU is showing some fast innovations in the scientific environment, especially in the life sciences field with many scientific papers published annually. This is why the Japanese company considers its importance to work together with EU-based innovative and active partners, such as academic institutes and/or companies in the sector of life science or medical.

Through research or technical cooperation agreement, the EU partner would be evaluating and incorporating existing collagen product for three-dimensional (3D) culture, co-culture, transplantation and transfection produced by the Japanese company. Furthermore, this would be help academic research which could facilitate partner´s research and lead to industrial product development.

Alternatively, the potential partner would use the Japan-made collagen as a raw material for commercialisation of their developed product and/or creation of custom made collagen product from scratch together with them.

They would provide their high quality collagen products, free of charge for initial evaluation purpose, to potential partners at the end of contract.

The company can flexibly work with potential partners if they need custom ordered item that are not included in off-the-shelf items.
Advantages and Innovations:
The company collagen is highly recognised by researchers who are focusing on development of clinical applications, including regenerative medicine (cell therapy) and oligonucleotide therapy. Their over 30 years of experience in production of medical-grade collagen for Japanese domestic market speaks for itself because they have managed to maintain lot-to-lot consistency, which is tremendous challenge for biomaterials´ manufacturer, especially for the one regulated by clinical standards.

Their own collagen producing facility was recently audited and their quality management system has been certified to meet the EU-GMP (good manufacturing practice) standards. Also, the source of their collagen is complied with ISO 22442 (Medical devices utilising animal tissues and their derivatives). Complying with these standards mean not only their collagen is high quality but they can also provide potential partner with appropriate documentation essential for approval review.

Thanks to the aforementioned certification, their products have been adopted in the progress of clinical development purposes and it would lead to commercialisation particularly in the field of regenerative medicine and medical devices, in addition to life science tools for basic research.

They´ve spent many decades for developing innovative application of collagen especially in life science area and accumulated extensive know-how for fabricating various shaped collagen scaffolds. They are able to fabricate a virus-free sustained-release transfection reagent and a collagen sponge having cartilage like strength which can be used as in vitro arthritis model.

In the past years, a number of researchers are attracted to 3D culture and co-culture mimicking human body more precisely than conventional plate culture. Research papers using the company collagen scaffolds for these culture methods have shown clear advantages to re-construct in vivo-like environment, compared to other type of collagen.
