This technology provides cost-effective and better seismic performance than conventional FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) reinforcement technology. The company is looking for technical cooperation partner.
Description:
Not like other extreme weather events such as hurricane and blizzard, the earthquake is not possible to be forecasted due to its suddenness. Most damages induced by earthquake are concentrated on structures; Moreover, after shock causes more severe damages to buildings and bridges. Therefore, prompt reinforcement of structure is very important to reduce continuing damages after first strong earthquake.

To enhance earthquake-resistance of ferroconcrete buildings, some reinforcement methods are already introduced such as ´Section Enlargement´ and ´Steel Plate wall´. However, installation of this method takes time because of welding process. Also, these methods cause increasing building weight, shortening usage space, and physical damages to columns. So, lightweight and high durable FRP(Fibre Reinforced Polymer) is starting to be widely used for reinforcement of buildings.

Unfortunately, FRP reinforcement method also shows some disadvantages such as ´high raw material cost´ and ´continuous decline of adhesive power´. To overcome these disadvantages, a Korean SME, which is very active in construction industry, is developing polyurea spray technology.

Polyurea is a proper seismic strengthening material because it provides both ductility and rigidity performance and doesn´t have the surface of discontinuity. With Korean SME´s spray method, the column can be reinforced in a very short time. Also, compared to conventional FRP(Fibre Reinforced Polymer) reinforcement method, the constructor has many advantages such as less raw materials and better performance.

This Korean SME is looking for technical cooperation partners in construction industry for further development. This technology can be applied for structure, pillar in the parking lot, skyscraper, bridges laid across ravines and pier.
